Victoria Urquhart: Grant Writing (Sessional Instructor)

Victoria Urquhart is an award-winning Neurodivergent, Mad, actor, playwright, producer, and director.

She has launched several projects in pursuit of creating access for communities facing isolation, including the Shakespeare-On-The-Subway Project, Julius Caesar Project (an all-female performance used as a performance pedagogy in association with Fred Victor to address conflict resolution amongst those using the shelter system), and the Shakespeare-In-Hospitals Program.

Creative credits include: directing The Girl In The Photograph, which won Broadway World’s award for Best Production, alongside it being noted as Mooney On Theatre’s Hot Ticket. Victoria was also a finalist in the 2022 Cayle Chernin Awards for her upcoming written piece, Don’t Say His Name. She recently finished the first stage of development of her play, I, Can Fly through the support RealWheel’s Theatre’s  Writer’s Circle in Vancouver, the mentorship of Natasha Nadir through the Playwright’s Guild of Canada, Nightwood Theatre’s Creator’s Reserve and the Canada Council for the Arts. 

Grant writing experience includes: over ten years’ experience writing for Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council and Toronto Arts Council. In addition to once sending out a tweet that earned her back $12,500, she has successfully gained over $200k worth of grants for various artists, collectives and productions across Canada, ranging from corporate to government-based pitches.
